How does Tabs integrate with Avalara? QBO and NetSuite

Last updated: January 2, 2026

Tabs integrates with Avalara for both QuickBooks Online (QBO) and NetSuite users through a streamlined process:

  1. QBO Integration:

    • The contract is uploaded into Tabs, and an invoice is created in Tabs with the customer details, amount, and customer location (your location is pre-populated in Tabs).

    • QBO receives the invoice from Tabs and pushes the invoice data to Avalara through the integration.

    • Avalara calculates the sales tax amount and returns this information to QBO.

    • QBO then adds a "Sales tax" line item to the invoice with the calculated sales tax amount (the item name can be customized).

    • Tabs syncs the updated invoice from QBO, and the final invoice is sent out to the customer via Tabs.

  2. NetSuite Integration:

    • The contract is uploaded into Tabs, and an invoice is created in Tabs with the customer details, amount, and customer location (your location is pre-populated in Tabs).

    • NetSuite receives the invoice from Tabs and pushes the invoice data to Avalara through their integration.

    • Avalara calculates the sales tax amount and returns this information to NetSuite.

    • NetSuite updates the sales tax amount on the invoice with the calculated sales tax from Avalara.

    • Tabs syncs the updated invoice from NetSuite, and the final invoice is sent out to the customer via Tabs.
