API Call Limits

Last updated: November 5, 2025

Overview

To improve platform reliability and ensure a consistent experience for all merchants, Tabs has introduced API rate limits — restrictions on the number of times a user or client can call our API within a given time period. These limits help prevent performance issues caused by unusually high API activity.

What Changed

As of November 10, 2025, Tabs APIs now enforce a default limit of 10 requests per second per Merchant ID. This limit applies across all API endpoints and helps maintain overall system stability during high-traffic periods such as billing runs.

Who This Affects

All merchants using Tabs APIs are subject to these limits. If your integration exceeds this threshold, you may see throttling (delayed responses) or 429 Too Many Requests errors.

What You Can Do

  • Review your API usage patterns to ensure calls stay within the 10 req/sec limit.

  • If you send automated or bulk API requests, consider batching or scheduling them to avoid throttling.

  • For merchants who need higher capacity, increased limits may be available as an add-on package.

If your use case requires more throughput, please contact your Customer Success Manager.
