How Customers Can Access and Pay Invoices

Last updated: August 19, 2026

Accessing an Invoice

Customers can access their invoices through links provided on each individual invoice. The process is as follows:

  1. Locate the Invoice Link: On each invoice, customers will find a link that says either "Notify of payment" or "Pay now or notify".

  2. Access the Customer Portal: Clicking this link will direct customers to the customer portal for that invoice.

Payment Options

Once in the customer portal, customers have several payment options available, depending on the merchant's payment settings:

Online payment (via Stripe)

  • Credit card — pay immediately in the portal

  • ACH debit — pay directly from a bank account via Stripe

Offline payment (notify only)

  • ACH credit — send payment bank-to-bank using the merchant's banking details on the invoice, then notify the merchant in the portal

  • Check — mail a check to the address on the invoice, then notify the merchant in the portal

For offline methods, the customer pays outside Tabs. In the portal they select the method and click Notify to confirm payment was sent. This stops invoice reminders and helps the merchant match the payment when it arrives — it does not move money.

Important Notes

  • Each invoice has its own link. There is no customer login or single page to view all invoices.

  • ACH credit and check payments happen outside the portal; the portal is used only to notify the merchant.

  • Offline payment instructions (bank details, mailing address) appear on the invoice PDF.

  • Manage payment methods without an invoice: To add, remove, or update a saved payment method when you don't have an invoice to pay, ask your merchant to send you the secure Manage your payment methods link. That link is valid for 7 days and does not require an open invoice.
