Why does my invoice show a single date instead of a service period?

Last updated: April 27, 2026

Overview

If your invoice shows a single date (for example, “Period Dec 19, 2025”) instead of a date range, this is expected behavior based on how the product is configured.

This typically happens when the product is set as non-recurring.

Why this happens

Tabs determines whether to display a service period (date range) or a single date based on the product’s billing configuration:

  • Recurring products → Show a service period (start date – end date)

  • Non-recurring products → Show a single date

Even if the invoice itself spans a longer timeframe, non-recurring products do not generate a service period.

Example

  • Expected: 12/19/25 – 4/15/26

  • Actual: Period Dec 19, 2025

This indicates the product is configured as non-recurring, so only the invoice date is shown.

How to fix it

If you want the invoice to display a service period:

  1. Go to the Products page

  2. Select the relevant product

  3. Change the product from non-recurring to recurring

  4. Set the cadence (recommended: 1, depending on your billing schedule)

  5. Ensure the billing schedule includes a defined start and end date

Once updated, future invoices will display a service period based on the billing schedule.

Important notes

  • This change only affects future invoices (not already generated PDFs)

  • Even one-time charges can be set as recurring (with cadence = 1) to enable service period display

  • The service period is derived from the billing schedule, not just the invoice-level configuration
